The mixset we are graced with today my fellow Foundationers, is the latest blend cooked up by Bend, Oregon maestro DJ Smoke. This aural h’or doeuvre is best paired with late night grooving, or for that intimate pre-game party. Personally, listening to this with my eyes closed, I envisioned chilling in a hot tub at a ski lodge on a crisp winter night, gazing up at the stars.

Zaskar and crew have been throwing it down freaky poolside style. Our resident micro-genre mixmaster was so kind as to get me the live recording of their latest session.
Spawned from the deviant minds behind LUSH at Market Place, Quack! Quack! aims to give everyone in KL a fun and relaxing (or rocking) way to end their weekends. Quack! Quack! is the 2nd in a series of parties put out by Paragon Events as part of our quest to bring you unique partying experiences.
Quack! Quack! will also have a strong House music influence but perhaps with a more mellow and sultry sound. We will continue to feature the best local DJs as well as contributing to our charity Yellow House Society (www.myyellowhouse.org) at Quack! Quack!
There’ll be some new features thrown in for added fun aside from the obvious 18 X 15 feet pool such as a barbeque on the Sky Deck and new quirky door gifts.
So come experience the only party in KL you WON’T need to dress up for. Kick back, soak up some rays and end your weekend in style!
Make sure you check out their next event, when they bring the Foam March 1st!
Our next Expansion participant hails from the island of Singapore. Firman Chitra a.k.a Artihc has been DJ-ing for the past 8 years with the motivation to “create a singular experience for the ears, feet, mind, body & soul” and can be found regularly dropping beats at the Supperclub(SG) with our very own EJ .
‘Patiens’ is presented very much like a tapestry of minimalistic tunes that are surtured together with delicate, pin-point accuracy and progressively bound by elements that are deep, techy and downright pulsating to the bone. The overall hypnoticism is further enhanced by tunes from the likes of Dubfire, Steve Lawler, Thomas Schumacher, Cirez D and Format B. This is a set that is made to imbue and infuse and it does it well.
So, download away and remember to leave us your thoughts. As with our other Expansion participants, stats for ‘Patiens’ will be monitored for a period of one week.
Let’s go!

We haven’t heard from Zaskar in a while but, oh boy, was the wait worth it. Our maestro of all things minimal and micro delivers yet another killer set, this time with ‘Bunohan’.
Showcasing explicitly precise mixing techniques, homeboy has fabricated one heck of set that weaves together an intricate collection of minimal tech and microhouse tunes from the likes of Luciano & Mirko, Marc Antona, Jorge Savoretti and Gernot Lange; filled with all the pulsating, throbbing yummyness one can expect from Zaskar’s sets.
Personal favourite moment? Fergie’s sick rework of King Unique’s ‘Hinode’. Absolutely blistering drop.

Fellow Foundation Editor Raj, aka No. 4, gets us ready for the weekend with:
This mix is Fifty minutes and Dirty seconds of funked out, electro, tech and idm-infused straight beats that are just perfect for an early morning pleasure fest!
This is definitely the kind of set that I’d want to hear out at about 1am as the opening track by Skwerl invites you to get the party stated, then the precision tight mixes leads you from funk to the tech minimal sweetness of Melt and Virtualismo. The set gets deeper and sexier with a foray in to the tribal styles of Superchumbo feat. Celeda, and finally the killer ending of Slyde and Felix Da HouseCat.
Raj, nice work on this for sure… You need to start playing out!

EJ returns with a wonderfully tailored Deep House set that invokes a surreal, almost Bohemian, imagery. I swear I could almost picture myself wandering thru some really artsy place pondering about Dada and Fluxus, on a rainy day. Yeah, it was that good!
Featuring the minimalistic and colourful works of Dennis Ferrer, Djuma Soundsystem, Mr.V and Trentemoller, amongst others, EJ showcases her versatily and superb deck skills, binding each track with absolute cosmic brilliance.
One word – Stunning!
Also, EJ will in KL, performing at Bar Club, on the 18th of July, 2008. The FKL crew will be down there, screaming like pre-pubescent teens. Come say hello!

And no, we’re not talking about some KDE based software. BOOOORING! This is Zaskar, of Flava Events, returning with awesomely-amazing-blistering-crazy-cool-minimal-tech set. And believe me it’s one heck of a ride!
Homeboy fabricates an intelligent magnum opus that blends crisp, finely-tailored drumbeats with abyssal basslines that seem to emanate straight from the bowels of the earth. And just when you think you’ve figured this set out, something crazy, like a jazz interlude (!!!!), jerks the judgmental prick out of you.
Good god! I have no idea how I am to express this blisteringly brilliant mix in words. Ever heard the saying ‘Less Is More‘? Well if there’s a mixset that embodies that phrase, EJ’s latest minimal-tech offering would probably be it!
It’s almost surreal how our mistress seems to bind each track with intelligent threads of cohesiveness that flings the listener out into the cosmos before driving them back to earth with basslines the size of houses. I guarantee this will bring out the screaming little groupie in you!
All I can say is, “Do You Remember Your First Time?”

While Dj Rasul might be a fresh face here on FKL, he is by no means a newbie to the world of Dance music and Dj-ing. A student of Jeremy K, Rasul got his first break at Lavish, playing hard-trance. Since then, the boy has been stamping his mark all over Melbourne with gigs at venues like Madisons, Equinox and Gravity Bar. His current residency is at Seven, where patrons are treated to a weekly dose of electro and minimal tech.
His first mix here on FKL is definitely an engaging one. An ethereal blend of trance, electro and minimal with a very progressive sensibility, featuring the likes of Luke Chable, Deadmau5, Hiroyuki Oda and Andrea Doria.
Boys and Girls, give it up for Dj Rasul.
